v0.5.6 update notes

Hey everyone! đź‘‹

We are delighted to present all the details there is to know about update 0.5.6 (except for the release date, which is close but we’re not sure yet).

On the agenda: a new game mode, new skins (including some original ones), 2 new quests, a short visit to Sector 5 during a mission, a new event, and of course a bunch of bug fixes and gameplay improvements. We’ve taken care to explain all of this in this article, enjoy !

1. Challenge Mode

In this new game mode , you will discover a series of missions that the player will unlock through a good old linear progression. Each mission will be strictly independent without having a continuous storyline nor any coherence with the official story of Code Lyoko. This way, it offers varied and dynamic situations that you will probably not expect to see in a Code Lyoko game.

You will embody Lyoko Warriors, XANA monsters, or any character really, there is absolutely no limit.

Some missions will be scripted, immersing players in unique narrative contexts, while others will focus primarily on epic battles, where only skill and strategy will make the difference. Many other types of challenges will come in the future, ensuring great diversity.

At the end of each mission, the player will see a score summarizing everything they have accomplished in the challenge. Be quick, strategic, and efficient to aim for the best result, and measure yourself against other members of the community.

One of the best features that comes with this new mode is local multiplayer. Some challenges can be played in 2-player split-screen mode. The available setups are : keyboard + controller and controller + controller.
Be careful, though: in local co-op, the difficulty is increased proportionally. The challenges will therefore be tougher and will put your coordination and teamwork to the test.

2. Sector 5 snippet

Sector 5 being unfinished and still in development, we can only show you part of it at the moment. The full sector will come in version 0.5.8. Stay tuned, and get ready to explore!

In this update, you’ll only get a first glimpse, although we consider it already pretty advanced. During the final mission of Challenge Mode S1, you will discover several iconic locations: the Arena, parts of the inner sections of sector 5 (the maze), the Celestial Dome, and finally, the very Core of Lyoko !

3. The final challenge

The final mission of Challenge Mode S1 isn’t just another level : it’s a fully scripted, guided experience designed to give you a first taste of what’s coming in the future.

This mission pulls back the curtain on Story Mode that will come in version 1.0 of the game, letting you dive into new mechanics and cinematic sequences that set the standards for the adventures ahead.

At the same time, it highlights the core strength of Challenge Mode, which are endless creative possibilities without ever affecting the main storyline. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience that points the way forward for the game’s future.

4. New outfits

Get ready to expand your wardrobe with a fresh wave of skins inspired by the series. Embody Ulrich’s iconic season 1-polymorphic specter form, or explore brand-new original outfits designed to shake up your style, which include :

  • Aelita Season 4, reimagined in Polymorphic Specter colors

  • Odd Season 4, also cloaked in the Specter’s energy

  • Xanafied Ulrich, also called Dark Ulrich, the result of what could’ve happened if Ulrich was there instead of William

We know our community loves variety, role-play, and even a bit of fan-fiction. With these new outfits, you’ll have more ways than ever to customize your LW and bring your own stories to life.

5. New event

In the last update, we introduced Code Lyoko Aftermath events (in collaboration with the fan project), and more are coming.

From now on, three categories of events will coexist:

  • Code Lyoko Aftermath events, in collaboration with the creators of CLA

  • RDT-exclusive events, completely original

  • Code Lyoko events, coming in future updates, directly inspired by the official series (with features like Core attacks, Guardian appearances, and much more)

The random events system of Custom Solo Mode just received a new arrival : The Rift Event.

The Rift Event

Easy to grasp, tough to master. Xana is trying to boost its power by tearing open rifts across the 4 sectors. As a Lyoko Warrior, it’s up to you to seal them using data fragments.

But don’t expect Xana to stand by quietly; waves of monsters will do everything they can to stop you. Defeat them, and they’ll drop data you can collect. You can only hold a limited amount of data at a time, so you’ll need to inject them into the rift regularly.

The challenge: seal two rifts in less than 10 minutes. Each one requires 40 data to close, so speed and smart resource management are the keys to success.

6. World map improvements

The world map of the interaction menu has been completely reworked in this update. The system has been rebuilt from the ground up to deliver smoother navigation and better in-game performance.

We know many players sometimes struggled to find their way. To make exploration easier, you can now drop pings directly on the map, perfect for staying oriented and planning your moves.

And this is just the beginning: starting with version 0.5.8, a brand-new feature will arrive : Fast Travel. Unlockable through a series of quests, this system will save you precious time and make your expeditions far more convenient.

7. Revamped skill system

The skill system has been completely overhauled to deliver a clearer, more intuitive, and above all, more immersive experience.

The core usage of skills remains familiar, but several major improvements set this version apart:

  • Skill previews & detailed descriptions: every skill now comes with a video preview and in-depth explanation, so you’ll know exactly how to activate and use it effectively in combat.

  • LCPS (Lyoko Competence Points): a brand-new resource that lets you upgrade your unlocked skills, which now feature multiple evolution levels.

  • Earn LCPS through challenges, events, and recon quests: the system is designed to reward your progress and dedication, while adding a strategic layer to the choice of the skills you want to upgrade.

In short, this new system gives you more clarity, more depth, and more ways to customize your playstyle.

8. New quests

Hop in custom solo mode to discover two brand-new quests. Kankrox is back to guide you thourgh the search for ancient data hidden deep within the network. It’s up to you to take on the challenge and uncover the secrets that lie within.

But that’s not all: you’ll get, through these quests, an early look at a brand-new interaction system. This feature will play a major role in the final version of the game, it will be the central element of your exchanges with secondary characters such as Sissi, HervĂ©, Nicolas, and many more, but that’s a topic for later.
